Spring: for walking and sightseeing
From March to May the weather is mild and the countryside is green. It is a comfortable time for medinas and Roman sites, though the sea is still cool.
Summer: for the beach
From June to September, the coast is at its liveliest and the sea is warm. Days are hot, especially inland, so plan visits for the morning or the evening.
Autumn: the sweet spot
September and October often keep a warm sea with smaller crowds and gentler heat. Showers become more likely as autumn goes on.
Winter and the Sahara
Winter is mild on the coast but cooler and wetter in the north. The south is at its most pleasant from October to April, but desert nights can be cold, so pack a warm layer. Ramadan moves each year: check its dates, as some places change their opening hours.
